   BREEDING PARTNERSHIPS

Matings with racing rather than selling in mind, selected with the advice of Les Brisfield. (http://pedigreegroups.com)

In his own words, Les says: "I met Billy Turner when he trained New York stakes winners Eze (G3) and Gaviola (G1). Both fillies were the result of matings I did for their owner from modestly priced mares.

They are sired by stallions form the immediate family of their dams. Eze is
3X3 to Tirn to Talent and Gaviola is 4X4 to 3/4 sister Wildwook and River
Guide.

Breeders Cup winners Kona Gold and Ashado are among the other Grade 1 winners from my matings.

My predicting that the great distaff progenitor La Troienne would be a
primary figure in mares going to Distorted Humor has been the linchpin in
his success. He produced Funny Cide in his first crop from a mare carrying 3 such strains. Indeed, he has yet to sire a Group or Graded winner in the
Northern hemisphere from a mare with no La Troienne.

Billy Turner by Barbara Livingston

I've sent many a two-year-old to Bill including Finery, but it was his streaks with Punch Line that were remarkable. Bill held a seven year old Punch in peak form for nine months, winning six out of seven with one third. All but one was a stake. In that time, Punch was ridden by five different jockeys at five tracks. As an eight year old, Punch won four out of five with one second, finishing out the year with a victory in the Fall Highweight carrying 136 pounds. It was quite a run! |
